About a week ago, I sat down and wrote out a two-week menu plan. I used meats I already had in my freezers, mostly recipes I've already made, and most ingredients were already in my pantry. I added the few needed ingredients to my Winco list, and I was ready. It's going really well. I have tried menu planning before, but for some reason, everything really clicked into place this time. Due to various reasons (more leftovers than I thought, a date on Saturday - woohoo!), my two week menu plan will probably last 2 1/2 weeks.
I made sure to include several crock-pot recipes. I got a big crock-pot for Christmas from my bil and his wife (I had a medium size one -- too small for large stews) and I am in loooove with it. Plus, I love being able to spend half an hour in the morning and be done with dinner.
Tonight the menu is Chicken Curry with Cream over brown basmati rice. The first time I made this recipe, Dh announced excitedly, "This is so good! Now we never have to get Indian takeout again!" To which I mentally responded, Yeah that's not going to happen.

My husband loves chicken curry and would love that meal too. I love the idea of a crock pot (and we have a nice sized one) but I just dont seem to find a lot of decent vegetarian crock pot recipes, and why go to all that "trouble" for just Jason?
You are so amazing. I don't get anywhere near as much stuff done as you.
I am impressed. I have been able to sit down and do a weekly menu a few times, but that's it. My mom was so good at that...planning the menu in advance and going grocery shopping. Wow, life without having to run to the store every few days...
Good job. You are turning into Superhero Stay At Home Mom. I like planning my menu it makes me feel like I am saving time and money. So I can waste my time and money on other things.
Oh to be close to a Winco again! I miss that grocery store more than anything else in Oregon. I liked the fact that I could bag my own stuff so it was exactly how I wanted it. I also liked that I could find quality foods at low prices.
Oh and my two week plans usually last for 2 1/2 weeks too. I wish I could figure out why like you, but we just tend to take longer each time than I think we will.
