Deena, EdgyK and I were sitting around the other night discussing food. Because we all like food. Deena told us this marvelous-sounding dish that she had made up (she is creative like that). When she got to the part where she chopped up some fresh basil, EdgyK and I both made faces. "What?" she asked innocently. "Oh, I never have fresh basil. Or any fresh herbs for that matter," said EdgyK. "Me neither," I chimed in. Deena looked vaguely appalled.
The conversation continued and EdgyK mentioned that she hasn't made the Chicken Curry with Cream recipe I gave her because she never remembers to buy cream. I offered up the following: "You can use coconut milk in place of cream."
Deena busted up laughing. "You have coconut milk laying around your house, but you don't have fresh basil?"
"Erm, I make a lot of Indian food."
So tell me, blog darlings, which are you more likely to have in your kitchen?

Dude. Coconut milk?! That's just silly. I for sure have fresh herbs though. I guess I'll have to set up camp with your friend.
Basil.
Fresh herbs are so delicious, but truthfully, I can't stand to chop them. Fortunately, my husband likes to chopchopchop! We're more likely to have fresh herbs in the spring after a lovely visit to the farmer's market. Gives us the whole summer to kill them.
I can't think of a single time in my life that I've ever had coconut milk in my fridge.
I do, however, have a quart of buttermilk and a quart of heavy cream in my fridge most days. I've actually seen my husband have cereal with heavy cream. *gag*
None of the above. Have I mentioned that I don't cook?
I have to go with fresh basil, actually fresh herbs of all kinds. I don't think I've ever tried coconut milk!
Basil.
I don't really like Indian curry (or other Indian food for that matter). I think the only time I've bought coconut milk is to make green thai curry.
I was appaled the other day when someone said that they wouldn't eat a watercress salad becuase it tasted like dandylion leaves. I guess I'm officially a foodie now.
Ha! So i'm not so strange after all!
I'm a little late, but I'll have to go with neither. I've never purchased either of these things. I'm not an Indian food kind of girl.
Neither.
But again, I don't cook much. It's just too much work for one person in a small kitchen.
If I so much as make a fresh salad I feel like i've messed up the entire kitchen!!
